Xbox One S – Slimmer, Faster, Sleeker and now with 4K Ultra HD Video and Blu-ray
The wait will finally be over in just a few days as rumors and leaked images foreshadow the Microsoft release of the new Xbox One S. Priced at $399, the newly redesigned slim white 2TB Launch Edition is available on August 2nd. This new version sports an internal power supply, up to 2TB of internal storage, and the console still manages to be 40% smaller than earlier versions. Along with its reduced size, the Xbox One S has a fresh new look. Unlike previous designs, the latest console also gives you an option for a vertical stand.
With the new redesign, Microsoft now adds support for 4K Blu-rays and streaming videos. Using the latest display technology, High Dynamic Range has the ability to expand greater vibrancy in colors and more contrast in pictures. HDR is one of the most significant technologies to improve picture quality yet, Even with the advances, the console will not be able to convert Xbox One games into native 4K.The Xbox One S also comes with an upgraded version of the Xbox One controller. It features renovated textured grips, a lighter design and with a modernized wireless range. The Xbox One S’s controllers are even better than the original Xbox One’s and can also be purchased separately for $59, starting on August 2.
And, if you remember the commercials on television saying, “But wait, there’s more..” yet the new Xbox One S is merely a stop gap for gamers. At the E3 last month during the conference, Microsoft announced the Xbox One S console and then concluded the presentation by unveiling the more advanced Project Scorpio. As an Xbox One owner, I am intrigued at the notion of a 4K console, but with a graphics card capable of TFLOPs (trillion floating point operations per second) of power and an AMD powered 8-core processor from Project Scorpio, I’d rather wait till 2017.
