Is Google Glass 2.0 right around the corner?
We’ve been following Google Glass for several years now, since 2013, through all the iterations. But then, on Jan 15 2015, Google removed all mention of Google Glass from social media sites such as Facebook and twitter. We checked, and also found the absence of Google Glass on Instagram and it’s Google Plus page is completely blank, but the Google Explorer Community is still going strong with postings every day. Other than that, all that’s left is this brief message we found on Google’s website.
Most see one of the biggest roadblocks for Google Glass as being the controversial built in camera. Google soon discovered that some people just did not like the fact that a ‘Glass’ wearer could be walking around with the ability to record everything they saw without others knowing if they’re being recorded or not.
David Meinert came to the medias attention after he banned Google Glass from his restaurants, almost immediately after the product was released in 2013. Many others followed in his footsteps, both here and outside the Country.
Update 2016
After images of a new ‘Glass’ product were posted on the web site of the Federal Communications Commission earlier this year, people are talking about Glass 2.0. Rumors have it that the new Glass product is being redesigned from scratch. More on this as Google gets further in the development of this new product.
